New specifications

The two motor oils Midland Synqron 0W-20 and Midland Synqron 5W-30 now also meet the specifications API SP and ILSAC GF-6A. The formulations remain unchanged, so the new specifications also apply to products already purchased.

On May 1, 2020 the American Petroleum Institute (API) introduced the new specifications API SP and ILSAC GF-6A/B after a long preparation period. These new specifications replace the intermediate step with API SN Plus, which was introduced at short notice in order to offer quickly oils that are resistant to problems with LSPI (Low Speed Pre-Ignition) until the new API SP standard became available. Therefore all API SP products are also API SN Plus ready. In addition, ILSAC GF 6A is backward compatible with older standards such as ILSAC GF-5. The new ILSAC GF-6A/B standards are based on a revised and more rigorous test procedure with checks for LSPI, timing chain wear, valve wear and fuel economy.

Important: If the viscosity 0W-16 (ILSAC GF-6B) is proposed for engines, an engine oil of viscosity 0W-20 (ILSAC GF-6A), such as Midland Synqron 0W-20, can also be used.
