Bad luck, but even more potential

A broken wrist slows down Noah Dettwiler's momentum in the winter before the FIM Junior GP 2022 (formerly Moto3 Junior World Championship). He can only prepare himself to a limited extent and misses valuable training sessions. He cannot get to know the bike beforehand, he rides it for the first time on the first race weekend, when things are already serious. No wonder that he doesn't finish in the top positions yet.

A ray of hope is the race in Jerez in June. A promising 9th place in the first race, then unfortunately flying off in the second after being hit by another rider. But the form curve is pointing upwards. In Misano in September, Noah Dettwiler started the race in 15th place and knew after a 7th place in the warm-up that even more would have been possible. After two race laps he is already in 9th place, everything looks good. But then: a highsider, Noah runs off the track and notices that his foot hurts. The reason: four fractures in his right foot. Noah travels with his father Andy to Switzerland for the necessary operations.

Naturally, he wants to get back on his bike as soon as possible. Once the doctors give the green light (or even sooner?), he starts again. So he can still take part in two race weekends in October and prove what he is made of. In the last races in Valencia he delivers quite good results (P9 and P13). P9 in the first race is his best result so far. With a bit of luck, even more would have been possible: "I had a great pace and managed to catch up with the riders in front of me until the end of the race. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to pass them," says Noah Dettwiler.

Where would Noah be without his bad luck with injuries this year? Nobody knows. But the potential is there and the next step is coming up. His goal is the Moto 3 World Championship, but because he is still too young for that, he will compete again in the FIM Junior GP World Championship in 2023. And of course he intends to build on the last good results. That's why he has already started his pre-season training again.
