Reto Meisel, Eric Berguerand and Roger Schnellmann... what do they have in common?

Exactly, they are all active or former Swiss racing drivers. But there are a few more of them, aren't there? So what is it that connects these three racers?

Reto Meisel traveled to the Braga region (Portugal) with the expectation of competing in the "Touring Car and GT" category. Arriving at the hill climb season finale "FIA Hill Climb Masters", he learned that his race car a Mercdes SLK 340 Judd no longer met the criteria of the category due to a new FIA regulation and was therefore classified in the category "Open Touring Cars".

In this category, Meisel had an easy time and was clearly ahead of his competitors in all three rounds. But Reto Meisel's running times can also be seen in comparison with the other touring car drivers. In both runs 1 and 2 he set the fastest time. Only in the third and last run did the Pole Szymon Lukaszczyk beat him by 2 thousandths of a second for the best time of the day among the touring car drivers.

Nevertheless, Reto Meisel won the gold medal in the started category and is the third Swiss hillclimb driver after Eric Berguerand (2014) and Roger Schnellmann (2018) to achieve this at a FIA Hill Climb Masters.
