Handover of the road tanker fleet

Gery Mühlethaler has been transporting fuel, diesel and heating oil for Midland for over 30 years; for the past 25 years, he has done so through his own company, Mühlethaler Transporte GmbH, based in Subingen.

Starting out as a one-man business, the fleet has since grown up to four road tankers. Today, there are usually two truck drivers on the road at any one time; including temporary staff and office workers, the team consists of five people in total.

Gery still helps out, but is increasingly taking a step back. “It’s time for the younger generation to take over,” he says, pointing to his son Reto Mühlethaler, who smiles. “We’re continuing to digitalise and looking at what we can optimise and modernise,” he says, outlining his vision for the near future.

As successor to long-serving heating oil driver Urs Brechbühler, who retired last year, Etrit “Edi” Rexhepallari joined the team last autumn. He is the epitome of calm and remains relaxed even when he faces numerous unloading stops and unexpected obstacles with his four-axle truck.

“That’s exactly what makes a good truck driver,” says Reto Mühlethaler, who himself mainly drives a semi-trailer tanker truck, delivering diesel and petrol to agriculture, bus and transport companies, as well as filling stations. Reto has been with the family business for seven years and is looking forward to his new role.

Midland wishes Reto and his team all the best and looks forward to the next 30 years with Mühlethaler Transporte GmbH.
