On Thursday, 20 August 2026, the Midland team met in the late afternoon for a joint karting event at the kart track in Wohlen.
After a brief introduction, most of the employees were eager to get started with the practice session. But just as everyone was already seated in their karts, a heavy downpour brought the start of the session to a halt. The practice eventually got underway a little later, under challenging conditions on a partially wet track.
The subsequent qualifying session soon revealed some clear favourites. In the race, which started from the grid with a flag, just like in Formula 1, Marco Ortis came out on top, finishing ahead of Christian Bachmann and Evren Ciftci.
Those who still had an appetite for more karting could then take to the track for another stint in a more powerful racing kart. Most employees had already taken off their helmets and watched from the balcony as a few of their colleagues battled it out in a second race.
After the sporting action, the team rounded off the evening with a barbecue. Everyone gathered around one long table, exchanging experiences and stories from their everyday lives. The team event offered a varied mix of sporting challenge and relaxed socialising.
