The USA and other major oil-consuming countries from Europe and Asia have now indeed decided to release strategic reserves on a larger scale.
This is the first time such a measure has been taken for price-related tactical reasons. OPEC's retaliatory reaction didn't take long to materialize; they are now seriously considering suspending the scheduled increase in production quotas in December.
