What Is Eco Heating Oil?

Eco heating oil, also referred to in technical terms as low-sulfur eco heating oil, is the new standard replacing the former “extra light heating oil.” Eco heating oil contains up to 20 times less sulfur (maximum 0.005 percent) compared to extra light heating oil and a reduced proportion of nitrogen. As a result, virtually no sulfur dioxide or nitrogen oxides are released during combustion, making it significantly more environmentally friendly. In addition, eco heating oil leaves fewer residues in the boiler.

Another Advantage

Eco heating oil is generally compatible with almost all existing oil heating systems , including conventional heating systems as well as modern condensing boilers, which operate particularly efficiently. Switching from conventional heating oil to eco heating oil is usually possible without any technical modifications. In some cases, especially with very old systems, it is advisable to consult a heating specialist to check compatibility and efficiency.

Note:

Since June 1, 2023, only eco heating oil may be used in Switzerland, as stipulated by the Clean Air Ordinance introduced in 2018.

A five-year transition period has been decided to allow all homeowners to use up remaining stocks of the old heating oil and replace them with the new eco heating oil.

Midland: A Brand of the Swiss Traditional Company Oel-Brack AG

The Midland brand was launched in 2004 by Oel-Brack AG, which has been a family-owned company since 1880, manufacturing and importing products from American oil companies under license. Under its own Midland brand, the Swiss family business trades heating oil and fuels domestically and produces high-quality lubricants in Aargau (Hunzenschwil) for both domestic and international markets. In Switzerland alone, Midland lubricants are supplied to over 3,000 passenger car and truck garages, motorcycle dealers, workshops, municipal depots, forestry offices, and industrial companies, while nearly half of total production is exported to international markets.

Midland is an internationally active private label of the company Oel-Brack AG. The family business specializes in the production of high-quality lubricants, which are sold both in Switzerland and internationally under the brand Midland – Swiss Quality Oil. Additionally, the company deals in heating oil and fuels in German-speaking Switzerland, where there are also various Midland gas stations.
